1. Read chapters 4 and 5 in the Giver

2. Study vocabulary list 12 for quiz next class: labyrinth, leisure, length, laceration, and mischievous

3. Study the Literary Devices sheet for a quiz next class.

Remember: Book project quilts are due March 18 (A) and 19(B)

Homework Assigned Tues. Mar 4 and Wed. March 5

1. Write a poem with at least 12 lines. It does not have to rhyme. Use at least 6 of the literary devices on the sheet and label each one. You can use more than one of each type in the poem, but you need to label only one of each type. You should be labeling six different types of literary devices.

2. Read Chapters 2 and 3 of The Giver.

Book Projects are due March 18 and 19

Homework Assigned Fri. Feb. 29 and Mon. March 3

Please write four sentences:
1. Simple sentence - one independent clause
2. Compound sentence - two or more independent clauses joined by a conjunction or semicolon
3. Complex sentence with an adjective clause
4. Complex sentence with an adverb clause
